Tailscale auf einem Fire TV Stick installieren

1. Install Downloader (https://troypoint.com/downloader/#How_To_Install_Downloader_on_FirestickFire_TV)

2. Install ES File Explorer (https://troypoint.com/es-file-explorer/#How_To_Install_ES_File_Explorer)

3. Download TailScale from F-Droid. I used this version (https://f-droid.org/repo/com.tailscale.ipn_78.apk) If this version gets archived in the future, it will likely be found at this URL: https://f-droid.org/archive/com.tailscale.ipn_78.apk

4. Copy the file (apk) to your Fire Stick either using the „View on PC“ option using the FTP URL it gives you in ES File Explorer or use Downloader to grab it from the URL above. I used ES File Explorer because I had other things to copy over too.

5. Install TailScale which may be able to be done in ES File Explorer or you can browse to the file in Downloader to install it. (Don’t forget to enabled either app to “Install Unknown Apps” in your Fire TV settings).

6. Once I opened TailScale I was unable to click the button to start logging in. To get around this I installed Mouse Toggle (https://www.firesticktricks.com/mouse-toggle-firestick.html). This allows you to double click the Play/Pause button on your remote and get a mouse pointer. With this you can click on the button. There is still another hurdle though. TailScale uses Oauth I believe and the default browser does not support this so you need another browser.

7. Using this guide, I was able to install Aptoide and then Puffin (browser) which helps get through the login. (https://troypoint.com/puffin-tv/#Puffin_Browser_Installation_Guide_for_Firestick_Fire_TV)

8. Open TailScale, double click the Play/Pause button to get the mouse pointer, proceed through login, if prompted, choose to open Puffin to complete the log in. This should get you through the remaining steps to login. You can then use the mouse pointer to turn on TailScale using the toggle button in the top-left corner.

9. I believe I was also asked if I wanted to allow TailScale to create/manage VPN connections, which you DO want to allow.
